The program includes specific candidates such as AZD9838, which targets the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BA.4/5 variants, and AZD6563, which targets the Omicron XBB.1.5 variant. These vaccines are designed to deliver mRNA encoding the viral spike protein, which is then expressed and assembled into VLPs within the body to trigger a robust immune response.
