mRNAOVA is an experimental messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine construct that encodes the model antigen ovalbumin (OVA). It is widely utilized in preclinical research to evaluate the efficacy of mRNA delivery systems and the induction of antigen-specific immune responses. In the context of the provided research, mRNAOVA is delivered using a fluoroalkane-grafted polyethylenimine (F-PEI) carrier, which self-assembles with the mRNA to form a nanovaccine. This system facilitates efficient intracellular delivery and activates the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling pathway, providing an intrinsic adjuvant effect. The resulting expression of ovalbumin in dendritic cells triggers antigen presentation and elicits a robust anti-tumor immune response, which has been shown to delay the growth of OVA-expressing tumors, such as B16-OVA melanoma, in animal models.
