Overview

MRR-02 is a proprietary small recombinant protein with cytoprotective properties designed to target the proximal tubular cells of the nephron [3771]. Developed by researchers at Inserm, Sorbonne University, and collaborating French institutions, MRR-02 is specifically reabsorbed by the S1 and S2 segments of the proximal tubule following subcutaneous administration [3771]. Upon internalization, the protein localizes to intracellular compartments, including the cytosol, mitochondria, and nuclei, where it exerts its cytoprotective effects [3771]. It is being investigated for the treatment and prevention of ischemia-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) [3771].
