Overview

MRS2395 is a selective small molecule antagonist of the P2Y12 receptor, a purinergic G protein-coupled receptor. While P2Y12 is well-characterized for its role in platelet aggregation, it is also highly expressed on microglia in the central nervous system. MRS2395 is used in research to investigate the role of P2Y12 signaling in microglial activation, neuroinflammation, and chronic pain. In experimental models, MRS2395 has been shown to suppress the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-alpha and IL-1beta, from activated microglia-like cells. It serves as a pharmacological tool to validate the involvement of P2Y12 in pain phenotypes and is being explored in cell-based assays to screen for novel analgesics.
