Overview
MRT5429 is a quadrivalent messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine candidate developed by Sanofi for the prevention of seasonal influenza. The vaccine is designed to encode the hemagglutinin (HA) proteins of four different influenza virus strains, typically including two Influenza A subtypes and two Influenza B lineages, to provide broad protection. Utilizing mRNA technology, MRT5429 aims to offer a more rapid manufacturing process and potentially enhanced immunogenicity compared to traditional egg-based influenza vaccines. It was evaluated in a Phase I/II clinical trial (NCT05398471) alongside other mRNA formulations (MRT5421 and MRT5424) to assess its safety and immunogenicity profile in healthy adults compared to standard-of-care inactivated and recombinant influenza vaccines.
