Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MRX-4TZT is a transdermal patch formulation of tizanidine, a centrally acting alpha-2 adrenergic agonist used as a muscle relaxant. Developed by MEDRx using its proprietary Ionic Liquid Transdermal System (ILTS) technology, the patch is designed to provide sustained blood concentrations of the drug while minimizing systemic side effects such as drowsiness, which are commonly associated with oral tizanidine. The drug is primarily being developed for the management of spasticity. In 2017, Cipla USA entered into a licensing agreement with MEDRx for the development and commercialization of the product outside of East Asia.
