MS-19-17 is a preclinical-stage small molecule developed by Azadyne that targets the queuine tRNA ribosyltransferase (QTRT) enzyme pathway. It is designed as a queuine analog that serves as a substrate for the QTRT enzyme, which is responsible for the post-transcriptional modification of specific tRNAs (asparagine, aspartic acid, histidine, and tyrosine). This enzyme replaces a guanine at the wobble position (anticodon position 34) with the hypermodified base queuine to form queuosine (Q). This modification is critical for translational accuracy and efficiency. By modulating tRNA queuosine-related biology, MS-19-17 is intended to regulate protein synthesis and cellular pathways involved in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases.
