Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MS-20 + pembrolizumab is a combination therapy that pairs MS-20 (a microbiome-based postbiotic) with pembrolizumab (Keytruda), an anti-PD-1 antibody. MS-20 is designed to enhance cancer immunotherapy by modulating the gut microbiome. The combination has shown promising results in clinical trials for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), with a threefold increase in objective response rate (75%) compared to pembrolizumab alone (25%). MS-20 was originally approved as an oral cancer adjuvant for ameliorating fatigue and appetite loss associated with cancer chemotherapy. Mechanistically, MS-20 remodels the immunological tumor microenvironment by increasing effector CD8+ T cells and downregulating PD1 expression, which enhances the efficacy of pembrolizumab.
