Overview
MSB-2179 is a preclinical-stage topical live biotherapeutic product (LBP) being developed by MatriSys Biosciences for the treatment of Netherton syndrome. Netherton syndrome is a rare and severe genetic skin disorder characterized by chronic inflammation, a defective skin barrier, and a high susceptibility to skin infections, particularly from *Staphylococcus aureus*. MSB-2179 is part of MatriSys's platform of beneficial commensal skin bacteria designed to restore the natural microbiome and outcompete or inhibit pathogenic organisms. By applying these specific bacteria topically, the therapy aims to reduce the inflammatory burden and improve skin health in patients with Netherton syndrome.
