Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MSC-Exo S1 is a specific subpopulation of mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (MSC-Exo) developed by researchers at the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Health, Guangzhou National Laboratory, and The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. Administered via nebulized inhalation, MSC-Exo S1 is designed to deliver dual anti-fibrotic and immunomodulatory therapeutic effects directly to the lungs. In preclinical models of pulmonary fibrosis, it has demonstrated the ability to inhibit myofibroblast activation and reduce inflammatory biomarkers. In a first-in-human clinical trial, nebulized MSC-Exo S1 therapy combined with standard of care significantly improved the 3-month survival rate and pulmonary function of patients with anti-MDA5-positive dermatomyositis-associated rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (MDA5+DM-RP-ILD).
