Overview

**MSC-IL-2 wild-type** is an experimental, lentivirally engineered umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stromal cell product that secretes wild-type murine interleukin-2. It was used as a preclinical comparator to an IL-2 N103R/V106D mutein-expressing MSC construct in collagen-induced arthritis mice. Wild-type IL-2 signals through the interleukin-2 receptor complex and can expand regulatory T cells, CD8-positive T cells, and NK cells; in the reported study, MSC-IL-2 wild-type increased CD8-positive T-cell proportions relative to the Treg-selective mutant construct.
