Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MSC-NVs are mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived nanovesicles. A specific variant, PMSC-NVs, is functionalized with the peptide GSPREYTSYMPH (PREY) to enable targeting of disturbed flow sites. These nanovesicles are produced from human MSCs (hMSCs) using plasmid DNA designed to functionalize the cell membrane with PREY. MSC-NVs demonstrate potent anti-inflammatory and pro-endothelial recovery effects, similar to those of hMSCs. They are being investigated as a nanoscale platform for theragnostic strategies aimed at preventing the progression of atherosclerosis by targeting early atherogenic events like disturbed flow formation and subsequent monocyte recruitment.
