MSCAT-THAC is an investigational cell therapy candidate consisting of allogeneic bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs), developed by Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) for the treatment of systemic sclerosis (SSc). Mesenchymal stem cells are multipotent stromal cells recognized for their potent immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fibrotic properties. In the context of systemic sclerosis, MSCAT-THAC is intended to modulate the aberrant immune response and inhibit the progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs that characterizes the disease. The therapy is typically administered via intravenous infusion. The development program includes the MSCAT clinical trial (NCT02367300), which evaluates the safety and efficacy of these allogeneic cells in patients with severe systemic sclerosis who have shown inadequate response to conventional immunosuppressive treatments.
