MSCs-HNF4α exosomes are extracellular vesicles (exosomes) derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that have been genetically engineered to overexpress hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha (HNF4α). These engineered exosomes are being investigated as a novel therapeutic approach for liver diseases, particularly those characterized by inflammation and fibrosis. Overexpression of HNF4α in MSCs enhances their immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties, notably increasing the secretion of interleukin-10 (IL-10), which contributes to improved therapeutic efficacy in models of liver injury and fibrosis. The mechanism involves delivery of bioactive molecules via the exosome cargo to target cells in the liver, promoting tissue repair, reducing inflammation, and modulating immune responses[1][2]. This strategy is part of a broader effort to develop cell-free therapies using modified stem cell-derived products for regenerative medicine.
