Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MSD-101 is an investigational, orally administered, small molecule fixed-dose combination therapy being developed by Mindstate Design Labs. It is designed as a 'primer + probe' combination, pairing a psychedelic 'primer' (specifically MSD-001, which is 5-MeO-MiPT, a synthetic tryptamine compound and 5-HT2A receptor agonist) with an undisclosed non-psychedelic 'probe' compound (an approved generic drug). This combination is designed to selectively upregulate aesthetic salience and produce anxiolytic-like effects, insight-related cognitive effects, and aesthetic perception (described as 'tranquil insightful beauty') by targeting serotonergic and adrenergic pathways. MSD-101 is currently in Phase 1b/2a clinical development (the AESTHETICS trial) for the treatment of anhedonia in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD).
