Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MSP-1014 is an investigational, next-generation serotonergic psychedelic and prodrug of psilocin being developed primarily for the treatment of major depressive disorder and other depressive and anxiety disorders. It is designed as a novel, patent-protected psilocin prodrug intended to deliver psilocin with improved tolerability, safety, and potentially faster onset compared with psilocybin, while maintaining similar antidepressant efficacy via non-selective serotonin receptor agonism, including 5-HT2A. Preclinical data in rodents have shown robust psychedelic-like activity and suggested a more favorable efficacy and safety profile than psilocybin, and MSP-1014 has advanced into phase 2 clinical evaluation in major depressive disorder, where it is administered orally in conjunction with psychotherapy. The exact chemical structure has not yet been publicly disclosed, but it arises from Mindset Pharma’s “Family 1” of psilocin prodrugs and is protected by composition-of-matter patents.[1][3][6][7][10][11][12][13]
