MSP-2003

MSP-2003 is a novel, small-molecule serotonergic psychedelic designed as a next-generation 5-hydroxytryptamine 2A (5-HT2A) receptor agonist for the treatment of neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders. Developed by Mindset Pharma in collaboration with The McQuade Center for Strategic Research and Development (MSRD), a member of the Otsuka group, MSP-2003 was selected as a back-up clinical candidate from Mindset’s “Family 2” portfolio and is covered by a U.S. patent application on 3-pyrrolidine-indole derivatives as serotonergic psychedelic agents.[7][8][9] In preclinical studies, MSP-2003 and its sister compound MSP-2020 showed central nervous system penetration, high oral bioavailability, and in vitro and behavioral responses consistent with a stronger and shorter-acting psychedelic effect than psilocybin, with a significantly reduced half-life, supporting development for mental health indications such as mood and other CNS disorders.[7][8] According to pipeline databases, MSP-2003 is characterized as a 5-HT2A receptor agonist whose global development status has been discontinued at the preclinical/IND-enabling stage.[9]
