Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MSP-2020 is an oral small-molecule pyrrolidine-indole derivative psychedelic, designed as a high-potency, short-acting psilocybin-like agent for the treatment of mental health disorders. It acts primarily as a serotonin 5-HT2A receptor agonist and is intended to deliver a stronger but shorter psychedelic effect than psilocybin, with significantly reduced half-life and high CNS penetration and oral bioavailability in preclinical species. Originated by Mindset Pharma and now developed within Otsuka’s organization, MSP-2020 emerged from Mindset’s “Family 2” next-generation psychedelic portfolio and advanced through IND-enabling work aimed initially at mood and other mental disorders, including use in experimental studies assessing its effects on brain activity in humans.
