Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MSP1(42)-FVO + MSP1(42)-3D7 is a combination vaccine targeting blood-stage Plasmodium falciparum parasites. It consists of two recombinant proteins representing the C-terminal 42-kDa region of merozoite surface protein 1 (MSP1(42)) corresponding to the two allelic forms present in FVO and 3D7 P. falciparum lines. These proteins are expressed in Escherichia coli, refolded, purified, and formulated on Alhydrogel (aluminum hydroxide). The vaccine aims to induce immune responses that cover the major antigenic polymorphisms of MSP1, a leading blood-stage malaria vaccine candidate.
