Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MSP3-LSP (Merozoite Surface Protein 3 Long Synthetic Peptide) is a blood-stage malaria vaccine candidate developed by the Institut Pasteur and the Vac4All initiative. It consists of a 96-amino-acid long synthetic peptide corresponding to a highly conserved C-terminal region (amino acids 181 to 276) of the Plasmodium falciparum merozoite surface protein 3 (MSP3). The vaccine is designed to induce cytophilic antibodies (primarily IgG1 and IgG3) that cooperate with blood monocytes to inhibit parasite growth through antibody-dependent cellular inhibition (ADCI). MSP3-LSP has been evaluated in Phase I and Phase IIb clinical trials in malaria-endemic regions, formulated with adjuvants such as aluminum hydroxide (Alhydrogel) or Montanide ISA 720.
