Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MSP38 peptide vaccine is a de novo designed peptide vaccine candidate targeting the Plasmodium falciparum merozoite surface protein 38 (MSP38) [6434]. Developed using computational pipelines, molecular dynamics simulations, and Rosetta engineering protocols, the vaccine is designed to target conserved, flexible, and allosteric regions of MSP38 [6434]. MSP38 plays a critical role in stabilizing the multiprotein invasion complex formed by merozoite surface protein 1 (MSP1) and other surface proteins (MSP3, MSP6, MSP7, MSPDBL1, and MSPDBL2) during erythrocyte invasion [6434]. By targeting the conserved interaction interfaces of MSP38, this vaccine candidate aims to provide a strategic alternative to highly polymorphic MSP1-focused malaria vaccine strategies [6434].
