MSV-CMT is an autologous cell therapy consisting of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal progenitor cells (MSCs) expanded under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conditions. Developed by the Institut de Terapia Regenerativa Tissular (ITRT) in Spain, the therapy is designed to promote salivary gland regeneration and restore glandular function in patients suffering from xerostomia (dry mouth), particularly following radiotherapy for head and neck cancer. The mechanism involves the potential of MSCs to differentiate into salivary gland-like cells or provide paracrine support to stimulate endogenous repair of damaged acinar cells. It is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials.
