Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MT-001 is a novel protein component vaccine candidate designed to protect against SARS-CoV-2. It is based on a fragment of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein that encompasses the receptor binding domain (RBD). Preclinical studies in mice and hamsters demonstrated that MT-001 immunization resulted in extremely high anti-spike IgG titers and a remarkably durable humoral response that did not wane for up to 12 months. The vaccine also maintained high virus neutralization titers against variants such as Delta and Omicron BA.1 without requiring subsequent boosting. MT-001 was developed with a focus on manufacturability and ease of distribution, aiming to provide durable and broad immunity against SARS-CoV-2 and its emerging variants.
