MT-1002 is a preclinical-stage small molecule targeted apoptotic agent being developed by Macrophage Therapeutics. The drug is designed to selectively eliminate or reprogram tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) in the tumor microenvironment by targeting the CD206 (mannose receptor). MT-1002 belongs to the MT-1000 class of compounds and is specifically intended for use as a combination therapy with anti-HER2 monoclonal antibodies in HER2-positive tumors. The drug utilizes a proprietary CD206 receptor-based delivery platform that provides high-affinity targeting to activated macrophages while avoiding off-target toxicity. By depleting or reprogramming TAMs, MT-1002 conditions the tumor microenvironment to allow endogenous immune cells and other therapeutic agents better access to the tumor.
