Overview

MT101-5 is an investigational oral standardized herbal medicine developed by Mthera Pharma for early Parkinson's disease. It comprises ethanolic extracts of Genkwae Flos, Clematidis Radix, and Gastrodiae Rhizoma. Preclinical studies indicate that diterpenoid constituents derived from Genkwae Flos activate nuclear receptor related 1 protein and the proteasome, suppressing alpha-synuclein fibril formation and promoting alpha-synuclein clearance; neuroprotective activity has been reported in Parkinson's disease mouse models. MT101-5 completed a Phase 1 healthy-volunteer study and is being evaluated in a randomized Phase 2a trial in early Parkinson's disease.
