Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MT1980 is a proprietary, lipid-based oral formulation of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) indomethacin, developed by Monument Therapeutics. It is specifically engineered to enhance the penetration of indomethacin across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) to address neuroinflammation, a key driver in conditions such as Post-Operative Cognitive Decline (POCD) and perioperative neurocognitive disorders. By utilizing a specialized lipid-based delivery system, MT1980 aims to achieve therapeutic concentrations of the active drug within the central nervous system, thereby inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes and reducing the inflammatory response in the brain. The asset entered Phase 1 clinical testing in 2022 to evaluate its safety, pharmacokinetics, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) bioavailability in healthy volunteers.
