MT1X small interfering RNA is an experimental RNA interference (RNAi) agent designed to specifically silence the expression of the metallothionein 1X (MT1X) gene. MT1X is a member of the metallothionein family, which consists of low-molecular-weight, cysteine-rich proteins involved in metal ion homeostasis, detoxification, and protection against oxidative stress. In the context of oncology, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), MT1X has been identified as a metastasis-related gene (MRG) that promotes the migration and invasion of cancer cells. By mediating the degradation of MT1X mRNA, this siRNA inhibits the production of the MT1X protein, thereby suppressing the metastatic potential of lung cancer cell lines. It is primarily used as a research tool to validate MT1X as a potential therapeutic target or biomarker for metastatic lung cancer.
