MT29 is a microRNA oligonucleotide therapeutic being developed by Mirscience Tx for the treatment of muscle-wasting conditions, including muscle atrophy, cancer-associated cachexia, and sarcopenia. Developed using the company's proprietary Mir-Discovery platform, MT29 is designed to modulate and suppress the expression of MuRF1 (Muscle RING-finger protein-1) and Atrogin-1 (MAFbx), two key E3 ubiquitin ligases involved in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway responsible for muscle protein degradation. By inhibiting these targets, MT29 aims to reduce muscle loss and preserve muscle mass and function. The program is currently in the lead optimization stage of preclinical development.
