MTA Angelus is a mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) cement used primarily in endodontic dentistry for root repair and related procedures. It is a calcium silicate-based bioceramic material that sets rapidly (within approximately 15 minutes), forming a stable barrier with high radiopacity and biocompatibility. The main components are Portland cement and bismuth oxide for radiopacity. Its mechanism of action involves the release of calcium ions, which promotes the formation of mineralized tissue and biological sealing of perforations, as well as inducing neoformation of periradicular cementum. MTA Angelus is indicated for use in cases such as root canal lateral and furcation perforations, internal resorption, reverse root filling (retrograde filling), pulp capping, pulpotomy, apexification, and apexogenesis[1][5][7][9]. It has lower cytotoxicity compared to some alternatives and provides an alkaline environment conducive to healing[3]. Developed by Angelus Dental Solutions in Brazil.
