MTBhsp70-Avidin (MAV) is a recombinant fusion protein biologic designed as a versatile, self-assembling vaccine platform. It consists of the 70 kDa heat shock protein from *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* (MtbHSP70) fused to avidin. The avidin component allows for the high-affinity, non-covalent binding of biotinylated antigenic peptides or proteins, while the MtbHSP70 portion acts as a potent molecular adjuvant. MtbHSP70 is known to stimulate the innate immune system via Toll-like receptors (specifically TLR2 and TLR4) and enhance the processing and presentation of associated antigens to T cells, thereby eliciting robust cellular immune responses. Developed as part of the VaxCelerate Project, this platform was engineered for rapid vaccine production against emerging infectious diseases, including Lassa fever and influenza.
