Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MTIs (Mycobacterial Transcription Inhibitors) is a drug discovery program by Quretech Bio focused on developing small molecule inhibitors that target the transcriptional machinery of *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*. The program aims to address the global challenge of drug-resistant tuberculosis, including multidrug-resistant (MDR-TB) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR-TB) strains, by utilizing a novel mechanism of action that inhibits mycobacterial RNA polymerase or its essential transcription factors. By disrupting the synthesis of RNA, these compounds effectively kill the bacteria and are being evaluated for both the treatment of active disease and preventive therapy. The MTIs program is currently in the hit-to-lead and preclinical stages of development.
