Overview

MTPS9579A is a novel monoclonal antibody developed to target and inhibit tryptase, the most abundant secretory granule protein in human lung mast cells. Tryptase plays a key role in the pathogenesis of asthma and other allergic diseases by promoting airway inflammation. MTPS9579A works by selectively inhibiting tryptase activity through dissociation of active tetramers into inactive monomers, thereby reducing inflammatory responses. The drug has been evaluated primarily for asthma and chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) refractory to antihistamines. Clinical trials have shown that while it is well-tolerated, the tested doses did not achieve sufficient inhibition of bronchial tryptase to demonstrate clinical efficacy in asthma[4][6][8]. Development for asthma has been discontinued, but studies are ongoing or planned for CSU[10].
