Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MTS-01 is a topical gel formulation containing a cell-permeable, hydrophilic piperidine nitroxide compound with potential radioprotective and antioxidant activity. The active ingredient is Tempol, a stable free radical that acts as an antioxidant and free radical scavenger. By reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS), MTS-01 may protect normal tissues from radiation-induced toxicity such as dermatitis during radiotherapy. It has been investigated for use in preventing or reducing skin toxicities associated with chemoradiation in cancer patients, particularly those undergoing treatment for anal carcinoma and for the prevention of alopecia induced by whole brain radiotherapy[1][4][5][6][8][9].
