Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MTS008 is a selective small molecule inhibitor of the voltage-gated sodium channel 1.8 (Nav1.8), currently under development by Hangzhou Jitai Pharmaceutical Technology (also known as Mates Pharma) for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain (DPNP). Formulated as a topical gel, MTS008 is designed to provide localized analgesia by blocking the transmission of pain signals in primary sensory neurons where Nav1.8 is highly expressed. This targeted approach aims to offer effective pain relief while minimizing the systemic exposure and associated side effects, such as central nervous system depression or drug-drug interactions, that are common with oral neuropathic pain treatments like gabapentinoids or non-selective sodium channel blockers.
