MTTI-001 is a preclinical-stage targeted radiotherapeutic (TRT) being developed by Molecular Targeting Technologies, Inc. (MTTI). It is a small molecule radiopharmaceutical designed to target Carbonic Anhydrase IX (CAIX), a cell-surface enzyme that is highly overexpressed in various solid tumors, particularly clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), in response to tumor hypoxia. The drug consists of a high-affinity CAIX-targeting ligand conjugated to a therapeutic radionuclide, such as Lutetium-177 (a beta-emitter) or Actinium-225 (an alpha-emitter). By binding specifically to CAIX-expressing malignant cells, MTTI-001 delivers localized ionizing radiation to induce DNA damage and cell death while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues. This approach is intended to provide a potent treatment option for advanced or metastatic cancers that are resistant to conventional therapies.
