Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MTX-001 Topical Gel is a biologic drug candidate developed by Merakris Therapeutics for the treatment of chronic and non-healing wounds. It is a topical formulation of the company's lead candidate, MTX-001, which is derived from cell-free amniotic fluid. The gel is designed to deliver a concentrated mixture of bioactive factors, including extracellular vesicles (exosomes), hyaluronic acid, cytokines, and chemokines, directly to the wound surface. These factors work together to modulate inflammation and support tissue regeneration by influencing biological pathways such as the Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT). While the injectable version of MTX-001 (Dermacyte Liquid) is in Phase 2 clinical trials, the topical gel formulation is a distinct pipeline product intended for broader wound care applications.
