Overview

Mu28zT2 is a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Wellington Zhaotai, currently in preclinical development for the treatment of lung cancer. The therapy consists of T cells engineered to express a CAR targeting Mucin 1 (MUC1), a transmembrane glycoprotein that is frequently overexpressed and aberrantly glycosylated in lung adenocarcinoma and other epithelial malignancies. The CAR construct incorporates a CD28 co-stimulatory domain and a CD3-zeta signaling domain (indicated by the '28z' nomenclature) to provide the necessary signals for robust T-cell activation, expansion, and effector function upon binding to MUC1-expressing tumor cells. By redirecting the patient's immune system to recognize and eliminate MUC1-positive cells, Mu28zT2 aims to provide a targeted treatment option for solid tumors.
