MUC-1 CART cell is an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy designed to target Mucin 1 (MUC-1), specifically its abnormally glycosylated form. Developed by the Second Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, the therapy involves genetically engineering a patient's own T cells to express a CAR that recognizes MUC-1, a glycoprotein frequently overexpressed in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). Upon infusion, these engineered T cells are intended to selectively identify and eliminate MUC-1-positive tumor cells. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 clinical trial (NCT03633773) for patients with advanced or recurrent ICC who are not candidates for surgery or have failed conventional chemotherapy.
