MUC-4

MUC-4 is a preclinical-stage monoclonal antibody being developed by Panosome for the treatment of solid tumors and respiratory conditions, including cystic fibrosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The therapeutic candidate is designed to target both the glycan and protein epitopes of Mucin 4 (MUC-4), a high-molecular-weight transmembrane glycoprotein. In oncology, MUC-4 is frequently overexpressed and plays a significant role in tumor cell proliferation, metastasis, and resistance to apoptosis. In the context of respiratory diseases, MUC-4 is involved in mucus hypersecretion and impaired mucociliary clearance. By specifically binding to MUC-4, this antibody aims to modulate these pathological pathways to provide therapeutic benefit in both cancer and chronic lung diseases.
