Overview

MUC1-ADC refers to a class of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) designed to target Mucin 1 (MUC1), a transmembrane glycoprotein that is frequently overexpressed and aberrantly glycosylated in various epithelial cancers. These conjugates typically consist of a monoclonal antibody specific to MUC1 linked to a cytotoxic payload, such as tubulysin B analogs or other microtubule inhibitors, via a chemical linker. Upon binding to MUC1 on the tumor cell surface, the ADC is internalized, and the payload is released to induce cell death. Hangzhou DAC Biotechnology has developed MUC1-ADCs as part of its clinical oncology program, evaluating them for the treatment of gastrointestinal tumors, including colon and pancreatic cancers, as well as other solid tumors like non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
