Overview

MUC1-C soluble decoy receptor is a preclinical recombinant fusion protein consisting of the extracellular domain of the mucin 1 C-terminal subunit (MUC1-C) fused to an immunoglobulin constant (Fc) region. Developed by Genus Oncology and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, this decoy receptor is designed to block the function of the oncogenic MUC1-C subunit, which is aberrantly overexpressed in most human breast carcinomas and other solid tumors. By sequestering ligands or disrupting the interaction of cell-surface MUC1-C, the decoy receptor suppresses tumor cell growth and induces cell death. In preclinical models of breast cancer, treatment with the MUC1-C soluble decoy receptor demonstrated dose-dependent induction of cell death in vitro and prolonged tumor regressions in vivo.
