Overview

MUC1-gene-DC-CTL is an investigational cell-based immunotherapy designed to target cancers expressing the mucin 1 (MUC1) antigen. The therapy involves the use of dendritic cells (DCs) that are genetically modified or loaded with the MUC1 gene, which are then used to activate cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) specific for MUC1. These CTLs are intended to recognize and kill tumor cells expressing the MUC1 antigen. The approach leverages dendritic cell therapy and adoptive T cell transfer, aiming to induce a strong, antigen-specific immune response against tumors such as triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and other solid tumors overexpressing MUC1. Preclinical studies and early-phase clinical research suggest that this strategy can enhance anti-tumor immunity by activating CD8+ T cells against tumor-associated antigens[2][3]. Combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors like anti-CTLA4 antibodies has been shown in preclinical models to further potentiate therapeutic efficacy[2][3].
