MUC1 peptide refers to synthetic or recombinant peptides derived from the MUC1 protein sequence. These peptides are primarily developed as cancer immunotherapies and experimental anti-tumor agents. The most common application is as a therapeutic cancer vaccine (MUC1 peptide vaccine), which stimulates the host immune system to mount a cytotoxic T lymphocyte response against tumor cells expressing the MUC1 antigen, leading to decreased tumor growth[1][5]. Other approaches use intracellular MUC1 peptides (such as PMIP) designed to block pro-tumorigenic interactions between MUC1 and proteins like β-catenin and EGFR, thereby inhibiting cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumor progression[4]. These therapies are being investigated for various solid tumors where MUC1 is overexpressed or abnormally glycosylated.
