Overview

MUC17 CAR-T is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target MUC17, a membrane-tethered mucin-type glycoprotein. MUC17 is frequently overexpressed in gastric and pancreatic cancers while showing minimal expression in normal tissues, making it a promising target for reducing off-tumor toxicity. The therapy involves genetically engineering autologous T cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes MUC17-expressing tumor cells. In preclinical models, MUC17 CAR-T cells have demonstrated potent, antigen-specific cytotoxicity, robust cytokine production, and effective tumor suppression in vivo without significant signs of toxicity.
