MUC179-87 is a peptide-based investigational immunotherapeutic vaccine candidate, designed for the treatment of multiple myeloma. It consists of a peptide sequence corresponding to the MUC-179-87 fragment, and has been explored in combination with PADRE or as part of a longer oligomer that includes both CD4+ and CD8+ T cell epitopes, to stimulate a cytotoxic T lymphocyte response against multiple myeloma cells expressing the MUC1 antigen. The approach aims to harness the patient’s immune system to specifically target and destroy malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma, while sparing healthy tissues. Its mechanism centers on vaccine-induced immunotherapy to promote antigen-specific T cell responses directed at tumor-associated antigens.
