Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MUC18 CAR-T is a **chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) immunotherapy** designed to target the **MUC18 antigen (also known as MCAM or CD146)**, which is highly expressed on melanoma cells but not on normal melanocytes or skin cells. The therapy incorporates a novel CAR construct that recognizes MUC18 and is engineered to express an anti-PD-1 antibody, countering immune suppression mechanisms in the tumor microenvironment. MUC18 CAR-T is being developed as an experimental adoptive cell therapy primarily for **melanoma**, with intent to improve efficacy in solid tumors where conventional CAR-T therapies have shown limited effectiveness.
