Overview

MUC5AC-A02-1398 is a synthetic epitope peptide derived from the mucin 5AC (MUC5AC) protein, specifically designed to be restricted by the human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-A*0201 allele. MUC5AC is a tumor-associated antigen that is de novo expressed in the majority of invasive pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas but absent in normal pancreatic tissue. As a cancer vaccine candidate, MUC5AC-A02-1398 (sequence: FLNDAGACV) aims to induce a specific immune response by stimulating the production of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) that recognize and eliminate MUC5AC-expressing cancer cells. Research conducted at Osaka City University has demonstrated that this peptide can successfully establish CTL clones with specific cytotoxic activity against HLA-A*0201-positive pancreatic cancer cells.
