**Mucinex SE** is an over-the-counter extended-release bi-layer tablet formulation containing 600 mg guaifenesin per tablet, designed to provide immediate and extended relief from chest congestion for up to 12 hours. Guaifenesin acts as an expectorant by thinning and loosening mucus in the airways, facilitating its expulsion through coughing and improving mucociliary clearance. Developed and marketed by RB Health (US) LLC under the Mucinex brand, it is indicated for symptomatic relief of productive coughs associated with colds, bronchitis, and other respiratory conditions, and is taken orally every 12 hours without regard to meals.[1][2][5]
