Mucizumab (MSL-2011) is a preclinical-stage monoclonal antibody being developed by Massalia Therapeutics for the treatment of glioblastoma. It is designed as a first-in-class therapeutic that selectively neutralizes Soluble Angiogenic Neoplastic and Fibrotic factor (SANF), which is the soluble form of the CD146 (Melanoma Cell Adhesion Molecule) protein. SANF is a key driver in the tumor microenvironment, promoting angiogenesis, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), immune checkpoint expression, and tumor fibrosis. By neutralizing SANF, mucizumab aims to disrupt these pathological processes, potentially overcoming resistance to existing anti-angiogenic treatments like bevacizumab and improving outcomes in patients with aggressive brain tumors.
