Mucoadhesive oral wound rinse is a viscous, hydrogel-based oral rinse designed to manage and relieve symptoms of oral mucositis and stomatitis, as well as other types of oral wounds such as aphthous ulcers (canker sores) and traumatic ulcers caused by surgery or dental appliances. Its mechanism of action is physical—when swirled in the mouth, it adheres to the mucosal surfaces to form a protective layer over ulcerated or inflamed tissue. This barrier helps shield lesions from further irritation, reduces pain, and promotes healing. The formulation contains purified water, glycerin (a humectant), benzyl alcohol (a mild anesthetic/preservative), sodium saccharin (sweetener), carbomer homopolymer A (film-forming polymer), potassium hydroxide and citric acid (pH adjusters), polysorbate 60 (emulsifier/surfactant), and phosphoric acid[1][6][8]. It does not contain active pharmaceutical ingredients with direct pharmacological effects; its benefit is through mechanical protection.
